Angels All Around, Part 2

Angels All Around, Part 2

This Christmas season, are you aware of angels? Hebrew 1:14–2:3 says:

Are not the angels all ministering spirits (servants) sent out in the service [of God for the assistance] of those who are to inherit salvation? Since all this is true, we ought to pay much closer attention than ever to the truths that we have heard, lest in any way we drift past [them] and slip away. For if the message given through angels [the Law spoken by them to Moses] was authentic and proved sure, and every violation and disobedience received an appropriate (just and adequate) penalty, how shall we escape [appropriate retribution] if we neglect and refuse to pay attention to such a great salvation [as is now offered to us, letting it drift past us forever]? For it was declared at first by the Lord [Himself], and it was confirmed to us and proved to be real and genuine by those who personally heard [Him speak]. (Amp.)

The writer is giving us a stern warning. Angels are sent to us as ministering spirits, and we need to pay close attention to what the Word of God says about them. We don’t want to miss out on the great deliverance and salvation available through them.

How shall we escape impossible circumstances and hard places? Many times, our help comes from angels. The ministry of angels is real, vital to our lives today, and part of God’s supernatural provision for us as Christians.

Angels are not sent because we deserve them. They are sent because we need their help. They are literally messengers of God’s mercy on the earth. They are one of the ways God helps us.

The early Church in the book of Acts knew very much about the visitation of angels. They had many frequent visitations. One example is found in Acts chapter 12. Peter was arrested and put into prison; it looked like he was going to be killed by Herod the next day. He was in chains and guarded by 16 guards. The church assembly responded by going to earnest prayer.

So Peter was kept in prison, but fervent prayer for him was persistently made to God by the church (assembly). (Acts 12:5 Amp.)

From their praying, an angel came into that prison, and a mighty deliverance for Peter followed. Peter was in an impossible situation and a ministering spirit came to help him.

Evidently, with the early Church, angelic help was frequent because after Peter was released, he went over to where the church was praying and knocked on the door. A lady answered, amazed to see Peter standing there. She told the rest of the group, “Peter is here,” and they said, “You are crazy. It’s not Peter. It is his angel.” (See Acts 12:13–15.) They were very familiar with angelic help—and Peter was delivered from a life-threatening situation.

Are you aware of angels and their availability to minister to you?
