Your Authority Has Not Changed

Your Authority Has Not Changed

It is difficult to have the right words to say after deliberate acts of evil. It is heartbreaking to see so many people hurt. We must remember that God is the God of peace, comfort, and hope. As Paul reminds us, God is the “God of all comfort, who comforts and encourages us in every trouble.” I pray that those who have been affected by the violence in Orlando will have that become a reality for them.

May the believers, in particular, find the attributes of the Holy Spirit becoming real to them; He is our Helper, Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor, Counselor, Strengthener, and Standby. We need our family in Christ to have the strength to stand up and be light in the middle of that dark situation!Continue reading

Prayer Still Changes Things

Prayer Still Changes Things

The earth is groaning for change from heaven. Conditions often appear overwhelming and even dangerous, but that doesn’t change the fact that prayer changes things. You and I have authority from above to take our stand and bring change to this earth!

One type of prayer that does this is called the prayer of binding and loosing. We find it in Matthew chapter 18.

Verily I say unto you whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. … For where two or three are gathered together in my name there I am in the midst of them. (verses 18, 20)

I want to call your attention to that phrase “in my name.” Jesus is talking about His name. Instead of using the authority in the name of Jesus, many born-again, Spirit-filled Christians have let the enemy bind them—but we’re supposed to be binding the devil.

Take a look at Jesus’ words in Mark chapter 16:

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. … And these signs shall follow them that believe; in my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. (verses 15, 17–18)

These signs shall follow them when they operate “in my name.” We have been given the authority in the name of Jesus to take care of the devil and all of his cohorts. Every evil foe that would come against us must bow to the authority of the name of Jesus.Continue reading

Praying for America

I remember in 1979 exactly where I was when somebody sent me the tape of brother Kenneth Hagin saying he had decided they were going to have a prayer school at Rhema. The reason for that prayer school was Jesus had appeared to him and said there is not nearly enough prayer for your government or for the United States of America.

At that time, I wasn’t so interested in praying for the government. I was praying more for personal things, for harvest, and for rain. But then brother Hagin went over to 1 Timothy 2:1-4, which says:

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

If you want to live a peaceable life in all godliness—where godliness can prevail, where you can have prayer in your schools, where you don’t have to have humanism and evolution taught to your kids—you’re going to pray for people who are in authority.Continue reading

Activate Our Authority

Who is responsible for the state that America is in? You may want to blame the government, society, or even the Supreme Court, but none of that is true. People in the dark cannot attempt to operate in light unless someone shines light into their lives. In the same way, no man or government official will be able to push back the darkness we see in this world. The only thing that will push back the kingdom of darkness is the kingdom of light.

That means it’s our job as the church of the living God to rise up and be light to the world around us.

Now, we have authority in this world, which I talked about in my previous post. I want to delve a little further into that now. On the throne of God, there is a position. God has put us next to Him at His right hand. That enthroned position is a complete position of authority. It speaks of authority, authority, authority. Look at what Ephesians 1:19-21 says:Continue reading
