Praying for a Great Awakening

When you look at the state of our nation, whom do you blame? Do you look to the government? Do you look to a man? Whom do you expect to solve the problems we face?

Contrary to what it may seem like in the natural, no man or government official will be able to push back the darkness we see in this world. The only thing that will push back the kingdom of darkness is the kingdom of light.

That means it’s our job as the church of the living God to rise up and be light to the world around us.

Our job? you might think. What can we do?

Recognize Our Authority

Paul wrote in 2 Thessalonians chapter 2.

And now you know what is restraining him [from being revealed at this time]; it is so that he may be manifested (revealed) in his own [appointed] time. For the mystery of lawlessness (that hidden principle of rebellion against constituted authority) is already at work in the world, [but it is] restrained only until he who restrains is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one (the antichrist) will be revealed and the Lord Jesus will slay him with the breath of His mouth and bring him to an end by His appearing at His coming. (verses 6-8)

If you go other places in the world, you can see this spirit of lawlessness working. Ten years ago, even five years ago, it’s not like it is now. This spirit is visible where it wasn’t as much before.

But there is something that restrains this spirit of lawlessness: the Church. The Church, by Jesus, has been given all authority and all power and all dominion to deal with this evil spirit.

In Exodus chapter 17, the children of Israel were coming up against an enemy called the Amalekites. Let’s look at that story starting in verse 9 where Moses is speaking to Joshua.

Choose us out men and go out, fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand. So Joshua did as Moses said and fought with Amalek; and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the hilltop. When Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed; and when he lowered his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses’ hands were heavy and grew weary. So [the other men] took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Then Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side and one on the other side; so his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. And Joshua mowed down and disabled Amalek and his people with the sword. (verses 9-13)

Joshua is down in the valley leading the fight against the enemy. But the victory didn’t depend on Joshua fighting in the valley. It depended completely on what was happening up on top of the hill with Moses.

Moses didn’t go to the top of the hill to hide from the enemy. He didn’t go to the top of the hill where he would be exiled away from everything. In fact, Moses was the key to the victory in the valley. He partook of the same victory that Joshua had down in the valley.

Moses was on the top of the mountain with his rod in his hand. That rod is a picture of the authority that God had given him. Moses owned that rod. He owned that power and dominion. He owned that authority not because of a natural condition but because of a spiritually granted position. And his authority was proven authentic by the victory that Joshua won on the ground as Moses held up his rod and stretched it out.

I want to share more about our authority tomorrow. Until then, let’s thank God together for our country… and pray for our future! May God’s light flood this nation!

Excellent word! It will take the entire Church working together to accomplish the great victory we desire of God in our nation in these last days. I noticed that the men took a “rock” for Moses to sit on while they lifted his arms. This rock spoke to me that Moses had a firm foundation underneath him. He had built his foundation on the words and visitations God had manifested in his life. This tells me we must use the weapon of God’s Word and our weapon of prayer. Our actions will allow the Hand of God to move mightily on the behalf of the Church to gather in the harvest. God always causes us to triumph when we speak His Word and pray. We are a mighty army that cannot be defeated as we follow the Guide on the inside.

I am praying fervently for revival in the Muslim countries as I am for God’s glory to be revealed here in America. Everyone needs Jesus! I am longing for the DAY (when Jesus will return) – AND living for King Jesus as the world around us seems to be disintegrating knowing that where sin abounds, grace abounds even more!
